Areas of Focus

Alcohol and Other Substances

You or someone you love is drinking, smoking weed or using other substances a lot. You’re worried.

There’s no judgement here. This is simply a safe space to take stock. Together we’ll examine this issue and make a plan to reduce the impact drinking and substance use have on your life. Whether your goal is to reduce use or stop altogether, we’ll find the path that’s right for you.

Depression, Worry and Anxiety

More than ever, many of us are struggling with overwhelming worries and sadness. When the joyful moments of life become fewer and far between, when you aren’t sleeping well and don’t have the energy to do anything but try to get through the day, it’s time to reach outside of yourself and get help. Together we’ll develop a strategy to bring joy, energy and peace back into your life.

Parenting is Damn Hard Sometimes

The daily stress of caring for a child with concerning behaviors, disabilities or challenges is a weight you carry around daily. Consumed with worry, you are trying to maintain all your roles: Spouse/partner, mom, daughter, worker—but you’re stretched too thin and something’s got to give. We’ll work towards restoring peace, managing stress, and reaching your goals for you and your family.

Walk and Talk Therapy

What is Walk and Talk Therapy?

Walk and Talk Therapy is just what it sounds like. Instead of sitting in an office or on a screen, you take a walk with your therapist and talk in an outdoor, natural setting.

What are the benefits of Walk and Talk Therapy?

Some of the benefits of Walk and Talk Therapy include

  • Adding movement to your day, especially helpful if you have a job that has you sitting in front of a computer.

  • Not having to make direct eye contact while talking. Some people report they think better this way, others find looking at natural surroundings makes talking about challenging topics easier.

  • We know that being outdoors improves mood and alleviates depression. Getting out in the sunshine, surrounded by trees, walking past a pond or a stream relieves stress, and the extra vitamin D extends the benefits well beyond the therapy session.

Where does Walk and Talk Therapy take place?

Walk and Talk Therapy is available from my office in Ashburn. While it looks like a busy office building, a few steps away is a path along the woods, a pond and a field that allows for private therapeutic conversations to take place.
